The City is a House is a Design-Build, made possible through the spatial justice fellowship at U of Oregon. Conceptually it’s a critique of the city and its failure to offer the care of a house for the unhoused community. We conducted an upgrade of the outdoor waiting area attached to Food for Lane County’s dining room. It aims at offering a space of dignity and care, it also addresses new challenges in design as care labor.
